Vanessa Lorant is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) who has
experience working with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, and much
more. Her story begins with her obtaining a Master’s in Professional Counseling in 2021
at Amberton University. She is currently obtaining her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at
North Central University. During Vanessa’s educational career, she conducted her
internship at Children First Counseling Center (a non-profit organization that focused on
helping low-income families).
Goals are important in therapy — with clients taking the responsibility for putting their
plan into action, Vanessa is there to help determine what that plan is. With each unique
client comes a unique way of conducting therapy. Vanessa focuses her theoretical
orientation on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy
(DBT). These two orientations focus not only on the way we think but the way we act
upon those thoughts. Vanessa likes to implement mindfulness techniques as she
understands that feeling stuck in one’s mind can feel scary. Vanessa works with clients
aged 3-65+. Vanessa has a gift to be able to work with such a wide range of populations
and understand each unique client.
Therapy can be a hard step to take. With doing so comes obstacles that many are not
aware of. As someone who believes that everyone, even counselors themselves, should
seek therapy at least once in their lives, Vanessa understands that it is a new adventure
that may need more assistance in finding the right path.
