John Hurst, LPC
School-Based Bilingual Clinical Therapist

John is a bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural Licensed Professional Counselor originally from the Dominican Republic who lived much of his life in Miami where he was very fortunate to be part of a richly diverse, multicultural community. He attended college at the University of Florida and later earned his Master of Science Degree in Counseling Psychology from Carlos Albizu University. John has extensive experience in outpatient settings working with various populations, including children, adults, and families, to help ensure their emotional well-being and successful attainment of personal goals. John works primarily from a person-centered, strengths-based approach in the modality of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy to help individuals and families deal with the challenges of depression and anxiety, while also focusing on helping them to work through the psychological impact of trauma whenever needed. In his personal life, John enjoys spending time with his family, cultivating his garden, running and other forms of exercise, and going to the movies.
