Gloria, who goes by “GG,” is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and Board-Approved Supervisor, with more than twelve years of experience working with children, teens, adults, and families in inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. She is passionate about supporting clients where they are at in life and helping them transition from times of crisis or stress to using healthier coping skills as a catalyst for positive change. She believes everyone should have access to quality mental health care and is an advocate for social change around mental and behavioral health. In her practice, she uses a variety of therapeutic techniques, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, solution focus therapy as well as relational and strength-based approach when providing individual, group, and family therapy. For the past 9 years GG has used pet therapy and currently works with the help of her yellow lab, Jolie. Pet therapy has been shown to reduce stress, increase rapport and help clients to become more cognizant of emotional reactions and support resiliency in individual and group sessions. GG provides a calm and creative setting that nurtures the resilience everyone has inside them. She believes that humor and warmth goes a long way in building relationships with clients and co-workers. She studied Psychology and Sociology at Louisiana State University before getting her master’s degree in social work at The University of Texas-Austin. Her focus areas include, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief/loss, stress management, and adjustment disorders. During her free-time she loves spending time outside with her family, camping, gardening, reading, listening to live music, and traveling.
