Danielle Underwood, LCSW
Danielle is a biracial Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 8 years of experience serving children, adolescents, adults, and families in various settings, including residential treatment, schools, and an outpatient clinical program. Danielle is originally from North Carolina and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Sociology and minoring in Social and Economic Justice. She then served two terms of service with AmeriCorps, working in an affordable housing agency in Tacoma, WA and a dropout prevention program here in Austin. Following AmeriCorps, she earned her Master’s in Clinical Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. Her clinical focuses include depression, anxiety, trauma, self-esteem, familial relationships, and stress management. She has extensive experience in individual, group, and family therapy and draws on a variety of therapeutic modalities to guide her interventions. Some include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, but always with an emphasis on relationships, connection, and interpersonal communication. She is passionate about decreasing stigma around mental health and making mental health care more accessible to communities that have historically been denied access to resources. Danielle approaches her work in a culturally responsive, inclusive, trauma-informed, and collaborative manner and works to develop a trusting, safe, and empowering space to guide and support clients as they work to reach their goals. In her free time, Danielle enjoys traveling, trying new foods, having Netflix marathons, and spending time with family and friends.
